Green policy...
As a small family business, we appreciate how fortunate we are to live in such a remote, unique and beautiful place. In turn, this has made us very aware of the effect that everyday life can have on our surroundings.
We are committed to working in a sustainable and environmentally responsible way, whilst striving to provide the highest quality food and service for our guests and customers. Every year we review our practises to try to improve our environmental performance and minimise the impact of our day-to-day business activities. |
Here are some of the positive things we are doing.
Conserving energy…
By installing the latest LED lighting technology and gradually replacing electric panel heaters with low consumption electric radiators, we are becoming more energy efficient.
Being water wise…
We harvest rainwater collected from our roof which is then used throughout the water system.
By installing high volume gutters we have been able to increase the amount of rainwater we collect.
Shopping local…
We use home-grown, local and FAIRTRADE produce where possible.
Reducing, reusing, recycling…
We operate extensive waste separation, composting and recycling everything we possibly can and we don’t send any food waste to landfill. By deciding not to sell bottled water, we have eliminated a major source of plastic waste and instead have signed up to #RefillScilly to encourage the use of refillable water bottles.
Respecting nature…
We take part in the annual BigSpringClean beach clean and try to increase the number of bee-friendly plants and flowers in our garden every year.
